Create The Look | Black Swan | Natalie Portman

Black Swan has become one of Natalie Portman’s biggest films and one where she deservingly collected a Golden Globe for her performance. In the film Natalie Portman takes on the role of Nina Sayers, an ambitious ballerina who will do anything for the Queen Swan role in the production company’s take on Swan Lake.

There is only one problem: Nina has to play both the white and black swan. She loves having control and being perfect when she dances, which is ideal for the white swan, but tapping into her carefree and seductive side (the black swan) is a transformation that manifests and becomes extremely dangerous.

Battling between two personalities put many relationships in turmoil, but when she dances she is magnificent. When she takes to the stage as the black swan, not only does her style of dancing change, her appearance does as well. Her eyes turn black and red, symbolising the evil intent behind the black swan character.

To get into characters, costumes play a great part, but it can be the tiniest of details that can turn you from a great actress to a Golden Globe winner. So if you’re a ballerina who is looking for some inspiration, why not find out what a pair of coloured contact lenses could do for you? Or, if you simply love the look of the black swan and want to dress up as her for an event, why not find out if you can get into the character better than Natalie Portman by wearing these contacts?

With Eyesbright you can steal the black swan’s devilish look by wearing a pair of Hell Raiser contact lenses. Black Swan Natalie Portman wears contacts

Natalie Portman wears contact lenses for her role in the Black SwanSince the release of Black Swan in January it has become a huge hit and has created a buzz in the box office. Golden Globe winner, Natalie Portman took on the role of ambitious ballerina, Nina Sayers who would do anything to make her dream come true.

When she gets the opportunity to play the Queen Swan in her dance school performance of Swan Lake, she finds rivalry in the form of another dancer who is determined to all she can to get the part, even it means making Nina question herself. Throughout the film Nina goes through many drastic transformations, but there is one transformation you can copy.

Those peepers she dons are hand painted theatrical contact lenses, created by Kevin Carter. Each pair takes several hours to complete, ensuring all details are taken care of. Crater told Oregon Live, "They're soft contact lenses, regular day wear. We use a tiny paintbrush and we actually use dyes, not paint."

Why not try the look yourself with a pair of Hell Raiser contact lenses. They are uncannily like the contact lenses Natalie Portman wears in the Black Swan; blacked out, with red outlining the edge of the eye. You can even experiment with the eye make-up she wears in the hit film with glitter shakers in black and silver.
