Make-up Tutorial: Every Day Make-up

Always wanted to find a fast, simple and elegant look that you can wear to the office and on a night out? We have just the tutorial for you that will use the contents of your cosmetic bag efficiently and effectively.

1.    Add your face primer to your fingers and rub into your skin. This should leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. Primers are fantastic products to have in the bag as they help keep your make-up on for longer.
2.    Apply foundation by rubbing it into your skin using your hands. Many make-up artists would urge you to do this with a foundation brush, but we’re in a rush.
3.    Take your concealer and in dots apply it under your eyes, beneath your nose and over any blemishes you wish to disguise, then blend.
4.    Highlight your cheekbones with a blusher.
5.    With a warm gold eyeshadow apply it on to your eyelids and then line your lash line with a pencil eyeliner.
6.    Apply a coat of mascara and leave to dry.
7.    Insert a pair of coloured contact lenses to lift your make-up and give you a fresh look.

1. Homemade face mask

We’ve all heard that avocado can work wonders for our skin, but it is one of the pricier fruits to use. However, there is a fruit that you can use that is often found in many homes, the apple. All you need to do is put one cored apple that has been cut into quarters into a food processor, along with 2tblsp of honey and half a teaspoon of sage. Once blended, put the mixture into the fridge and leave for about 10 minutes. Apply to your face and rinse off 30 minutes later with cool water.

Fruits are often used as a face mask because they contain natural acids, enzymes and vitamins, which exfoliates the skin.

2. Shiny and stronger hair

After you have used your shampoo and conditioner, rinse your hair with cool water. This will make your hair stronger and appear to have a natural shine. When on the lookout for a new shampoo and conditioner avoid any products with silicone in them. Silicone can clog up the hair follicles, leaving you with flat, greasy and straw-like hair.

3. Anti-inflammatory diet

Changing your diet ever so slightly can help your hair and skin. Removing white flour, sugar, fizzy drinks and fruit juices with a high sugar count along with white potatoes can help you to maintain that healthy glow you’re after.

4. Freshen up your look

Your eyes can give you away. If you haven’t has a good night’s sleep your skin can look dull. Wearing coloured contact lenses can instantly give you that fresh look.

5. Minimise blemishes

Reduce the appearance of pimples and redness by dipping a cotton wool bud into hot water and placing it over the area for 10 seconds. Then with another cotton wool bud dip it into cool water and place over the blemish for 10 seconds.

Contact Lenses: The Hobbit

Sauron's Eye Contact LensesWe’re sure to all be lining up to see the first instalment of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on 14^th December. Audiences can expect to be entranced by the elves beauty, moved by Bilbo’s heroics and empowered by the dwarfs’ hunger for vengeance. Riding on the success of the previous trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is in good stead to become the next Christmas box office hit and expectations are high.  

The Lord of the Rings has been one of Peter Jackson’s greatest triumphs. Now, the established film director is returning to JRR Tolkien’s story to give us the first chapter of The Hobbit. Throughout the Lord of The Rings films we all took note of Orlando Bloom’s method acting; wearing blue contact lenses to get into his character Legolas. However, this time round we have Benedict Cumberbatch lending his vocals and physically portraying himself as the CGI dragon, Smaug. Not only that, but the talented actor will also be playing the Necromancer (the first inkling of Sauron returning to power).

Will he be heading down the same route as Orlando Bloom by wearing some Saurons Eye contact lenses to feel the power of the Dark Lord? Talking about the dragon’s design and Benedict Cumberbatch, Serkis told MTV: “Oh I can't give any secrets away, because it's still under wraps, it's still a secret character that is closely safe-guarded and is still in the design process.

“(However) With an actor like Benedict Cumberbatch playing him, it will be extraordinary.”

Cumberbatch couldn’t hold his excitement when it came to talking about the film to Collider; “I'm playing Smaug, I mean I'm physicalising him as a dragon. I'm not just doing the voiceover, so it'll be a physical role which I'm no stranger to.

“I've already started working out and doing various movement exercises to get myself limber for that all-important jump suit with balls on it, otherwise known as motion-capture. But I can't wait, I'm really excited.”

Along with the introduction of new characters come some familiar faces. Galadriel, Gandalf, Frodo and Gollum will all be making an appearance in Bilbo’s unexpected adventure. Every elf, dwarf and one small hobbit will join forces to take back Lonely Mountain, and once and for all defeat Smaug.

This is one film that you can’t afford to miss. Let the journey that leads to the fight for Middle Earth begin...
